Redevelopment Initiatives
The redevelopment of our community is a central focus of the City. For over 20 years the City of St. Petersburg has been a leader in redevelopment planning, structuring public/private partnerships and devising techniques that enhance the redevelopment potential of our built environment. Fundamental to this approach is the recognition that redevelopment of our land results in the achievement of economic development objectives. From utilization of the powers provided by the Community Redevelopment Act for the State of Florida, to Main Street Programs, to Brownfields Programs to efforts to re-write the Zoning Code and Land Development Regulations the City is proactive with businesses, developers and investors in identifying opportunities to create jobs and grow the tax base by facilitating private investment in real estate development.
