NIGHT HIKE JANUARY 15 AT
BOYD HILL NATURE PRESERVE

St. Petersburg, Fla. (January 8, 2008) - Experience the mysteries of the night as you discover the creatures that come to life after dark at the next Boyd Hill Night Hike on Tuesday, January 15 at 7 p.m. Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is located at 1101 Country Club Way South, St. Petersburg. Night hikes are held monthly at the park on the third Tuesday. Admission is $3 for adults, $1.50 for children three to 16. Children under three are free.

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is located along the shores of Lake Maggiore in St. Petersburg. The 245-acre park features more than three miles of trails and boardwalks that lead visitors through hardwood hammocks, sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, willow marsh and lakeshore and is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. An aviary is home to many permanently injured birds of prey. The Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center provides interpretive programming on a variety of environmental and natural history topics, a gift shop, and the "The Ripple Effect", a dramatic exhibit that showcases the distinct ecosystems found in the park. Using a series of dioramas and displays, the exhibit features special interactive panels that show that every action has an equal or greater reaction in our environment - like the ripples caused by a raindrop onto still water. Guided tours, rentals and overnight camping facilities are available. Call 727-893-7326 or visit www.stpete.org/boyd for more information.
