January 21st MLK Drum Major for Justice Parade
St. Petersburg, Fla. (January 10, 2008) - The 23rd Annual National Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major For Justice Parade will take place on Monday, January 21, 2008, beginning at 1:15 p.m. in downtown St. Petersburg. Groups or organizations interested in participating in St. Petersburg’s 2008 parade can pick up entry application forms from these city recreation facilities:
Wildwood Recreation Center, 1000 28th St. S. or
Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Ave. S.
Parade entry application forms also can be downloaded as a PDF from www.mlknationalparade.org. The parade entry forms should be returned to either of these locations as soon as possible so the parade lineup can be finalized. More than 25 marching units are booked for the 2008 parade including Bethune Cookman University (Daytona Beach), Barron Collier High School (Naples, Fla.) and the Louisiana Leadership Institute All-Star Band from Baton Rouge, La. The parade route begins at Third Ave. S. and Dr. Martin Luther King St. S., proceeds north to Central Ave., then east to Bayshore Drive and north to Fifth Ave. N., disbanding near the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Vinoy Park area.
