AL STEWART HEADLINES 2008 MAINSAIL
ARTS FESTIVAL APRIL 19
St. Petersburg, Fla. (March 30, 2008) - Al Stewart, singer of #1 hits, “Year of the Cat” and “Time Passages,” headlines the entertainment lineup for the 33rd Annual Mainsail Arts Festival - to be held April 19 and 20, 2008, in Vinoy Park, on St. Petersburg’s downtown waterfront. Admission is free.
Al Stewart’s acoustic afternoon concert begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. The entertainment stage is located in the south end of the park, near the Vinoy yacht basin, at Bayshore Drive and Fifth Avenue NE. The Mainsail music lineup also features the Gumbo Boogie Band, The Venturas, Charlie Souza and the New Tropics, and Stacey Knights on Saturday. The Sunday lineup begins at noon with Shifty Eyed Dog, followed by the Ditchflowers, Blind Willie James, and wrapping up with Dan McMillion and the High Octane Band. (See attached schedule)
In addition, over 250 exhibiting artists from throughout the U.S. will be exhibiting their original art works in ceramics, digital art, fibers, glass, graphics, jewelry, metal, mixed media, oil/acrylic, photography, sculpture, watercolor and wood. Named by Sunshine Artist magazine among the “100 Best” fine art shows in the nation, Mainsail offers visual artists $50,000 in cash awards, including the $10,000 Best of Show.
The two-day premiere cultural event combines visual and performing arts along with opportunities for children to actively engage in art activities - including the Young at ARt student show and the Junior League Kids Create art tent. There will be an assortment of culinary arts as well as Mainsail collectibles, posters and T-shirts.
