MAYOR TO ANNOUNCE MAJOR GREEN CITY INITIATIVE
WHILE BIKING TO WORK MAY 16


St. Petersburg, Fla. (May 15, 2008) - In honor of National Bike to Work Day
on Friday, May 16, Mayor Rick Baker will ride his bicycle to City Hall,
beginning at 7:15 a.m. at Northeast Exchange Club/Coffee Pot Park, First
Street and 31st Avenue NE
.

Along the way, the Mayor will pause at approximately 7:30 a.m. to announce a
major new initiative designed to reduce the city's carbon footprint and
further enhance St. Petersburg's Green City efforts (Vinoy Park, Bayshore
Drive and Fifth Avenue NE.) The media is encouraged to attend. In addition,
city officials will give an update on the City Trails program and the progress
of the St. Petersburg Downtown Pinellas Trail extension.

Following the announcement, the Mayor will resume his ride to St. Petersburg
City Hall, 175 Fifth Street N., joined by city employees and fellow cyclists,
arriving at approximately 8:10 a.m.
