CITY AND MUVICO ANNOUNCE FREE PARKING EXTENSION FOR MOVIE PATRONS

St. Petersburg (September 28, 2007) –The city of St. Petersburg and Muvico Theaters announce that parking in the city-owned BayWalk parking garage will continue to be free for all customers going to the Muvico 20 Theater located at BayWalk downtown through the end of 2007.  Originally slated to be a summer program, city and Muvico officials have agreed to extend the program due to its popularity during the summer period.  Movie patrons can continue to enjoy free parking through the rest of the year, including the holiday period during which new blockbuster movies are expected to be released.

The BayWalk parking garage is located at 117 Second Ave. North.    Parking garage customers must bring their parking stub into the theater and stamp it with one of the validation machines located in the theater after they purchase a movie ticket.  Then when exiting the parking garage, drivers present the validated ticket to the garage cashier. With this stamped ticket there will be no parking charge for the first four hours and $1 for each additional hour.

Parking fees will be handled differently during downtown special event times.  At the garage entrance, customers will pay the event parking rate (usually $5) and at the box office the entire parking cost will be refunded to the customer after the purchase of a movie ticket and upon surrendering the parking receipt.

The city and Muvico are partners in administering the program.  Muvico reimburses the city for the value of validated parking.
