Saturday Morning Market Opens For Sixth Season
Fresh Market is now the largest in the southeast US
September 29, 2007 (St. Petersburg, FL) -- St Petersburg’s Saturday Morning Market begins its sixth market season on October 6 at 9 am. The St. Petersburg Saturday Morning Market is not only the largest farmers market in the southeast US, but has the festive air of a city celebration every week. The Urban Gypsies, a familiar musical offering at the Market, will welcome the new season. Expect to see most of the same friendly vendors and some new food vendors this season. A schedule of music can be found on our website www.saturdaymorningmarket.com . We are pleased to remain in the same location for the entire sixth season.
The Market is held weekly on Saturdays from October through May, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central Avenue is filled with over 100 vendors and thousands of strolling customers. Shoppers along Central Avenue (between 1st and 2nd Streets) can browse for fresh fruits and vegetables, a variety of fresh baked breads, gourmet-prepared foods, Gregory’s signature ginger smoothies, fresh cut and potted flowers, fragrant herbs, native and exotic plants, a wide selection of hand crafted gifts and much more. Live music helps create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy our community of vendors, musicians, and customers.
The market has over 250 approved vendors that exhibit on a rotating basis. Most food vendors attend market on a weekly basis. Many vendors have leveraged their success at the Market to open permanent storefronts.
Many customers rave about the Market, saying that it’s the best thing to happen to St Petersburg, and visiting the Market is the highlight of their week. Creative Loafing magazine recently acknowledged the Market, highlighting 3 market vendors in their ‘Best of the Bay’ awards.
The market is a non-profit organization guided by a Steering Committee of volunteers. The committee was inspired by a vision of providing a community gathering place with great food and quality crafts. Each week our vendors and musicians creatie a festive and friendly experience where you know the names of all your favorite vendors.
