BOYD HILL WINTER DAY CAMPS
JANUARY 2 THROUGH 4
St. Petersburg, Fla. (December 14, 2007) - Boyd Hill Nature Preserve will offer Pioneer Camp for children ages seven through 13 and Young Naturalist Camp for children ages five through six during winter break, January 2 through 4. At Pioneer Camp, campers experience a time when family, friendship and integrity were as important as food, water and shelter. Challenging games and crafts help make memories to be shared. Pioneer Camp is located in Pioneer Hall at Boyd Hill's Environmental Studies Area, 3130 31st Street South. Young Naturalist Campers enjoy a day filled with exciting and educational activities including plant and animal studies, nature hikes, crafts, and bird and wildlife watching. Young Naturalist Camp is at Oak Hall, located at 2900 31st Street S.
Also this year, Florida Wildlife Camp will be offered for children ages seven through 11 at the Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center, located at 1101 Country Club Way S.
All camps are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended care available from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 5 p.m. Space is limited and advance payment is required to hold a reservation. Campers must provide their own non-refrigerated lunch, drinks and snacks (morning and afternoon). Comfortable clothing should be worn. Closed shoes are required, no sandals are allowed. Cost: Pioneer and Young Naturalist Camps - for St. Petersburg residents, the cost is $60 for members of the Friends of Boyd Hill Nature Park, $72 for non-members. Extended care is $15. For non-residents, the cost is $96 for members of the Friends of Boyd Hill Nature Park, $115.20 for non-members. Extended care for non-residents is $24. Florida Wildlife Camp is $75 for St. Petersburg residents ($15 - extended care), $120 for non-residents ($24 - extended care). Non-resident cards are available for $125 annually allowing the card holder resident rates for all programs and classes offered by the city of St. Petersburg.
