CITY AND MUVICO ANNOUNCE FREE PARKING EXTENSION FOR MOVIE PATRONS
St. Petersburg, Fla. (December 26, 2007) -- The city of St. Petersburg and Muvico Theaters announce that parking in the city-owned BayWalk parking garage will continue to be free for all customers going to the Muvico 20 Theater located at BayWalk downtown. Originally slated to be a summer and holiday program, city and Muvico officials have agreed to extend the program due to its popularity. The new program has no expiration date set at this time and will continue on an ongoing basis.
The BayWalk parking garage is located at 117 Second St. North. Parking garage customers must bring their parking stub into the theater and stamp it with one of the validation machines located at the customer service booth after they purchase a movie ticket. Then when exiting the parking garage, drivers present the validated ticket to the garage cashier. With this stamped ticket there will be no parking charge for the first four hours and $1 for each additional hour.
Parking fees will continue to be handled differently during downtown special event times. At the garage entrance, customers will pay the event parking rate (usually $5) and at the box office, the entire parking cost will be refunded to the customer after the purchase of a movie ticket and upon surrendering the parking receipt. For First Night the price will be $10. However, this fee is also refundable at the Muvico box office by following the described procedure.
