Business Assistance Center: The city's Purchasing and Materials Management Department in cooperation with the Business Assistance Center conduct classes on "How to do Business with the City". These classes provide information on applying to become an approved city supplier, submitting products for evaluation, current city contracts, and the solicitation process. Awards:
Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Purchasing Institute (NPI) in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Presented annually, the award is designed to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement. The award measures innovation, professionalism, productivity and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
The Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award Recognizes agencies that lead the public procurement profession. The City of St. Petersburg's Purchasing and Materials Management Department was first accredited in February 2003 and re-accredited in February 2006.
